Talkin' With The Team #4 - Jared Arnason

How old are you, and who are you sponsored by?
I’m 23 years old. I’m sponsored by Sk8 skates, Fourstar and Converse.
How long have you been on Sk8 Skates?
I think I have been on the team for 4 years? Whenever Boyd got deported.
How did you get on the Sk8 Skates team?
A bunch of the guys from the team were skating the plaza before a team meeting at the shop. I wasn’t on the team yet, so we made arrangements to meet up when the meeting was over. I was on my way home when I got a call from Genico, he said that the meeting was done and to come back to the shop to chill before going out. When I got back to the shop, as I’m walking in the door, Colin tells me to grab a tray of shots sitting on the counter. I grab the tray and as I’m bringing it over to the team I realize it says “Welcome to the team Jared!”. From there we went to the Cavern for some karaoke, and ended off the night with the team on stage singing “Gin and Juice”. That was a good night
What made you want to ride for Sk8 Skates?
I don’t know if there was a definitive moment where I knew I wanted to ride for Sk8, but ever since I was a
kid it was the only thing I really paid attention to. I would see these guys either at demos, in local videos, at video premieres, contests, or just skating the park. Sk8, in my mind, had the gnarliest guys in Winnipeg. But not only that, it seemed like they had the best time doing it.  As a kid seeing what Sk8 was all about, watching these guys skate and eventually getting to know them, it was the biggest thing for me to eventually become a part of that.
What’s the gnarliest trick to go down in Winnipeg?
Nick Serduletz fakie flip city hall or Colin’s wall ride down art gallery.
Who would you put on the team next?
Maybe Devon Blaze Tait. He can skate whatever, does cool tricks, has good style and he’s in the streets often.
Favorite Winnipeg skateboarder?
Tyler Geurts. This man is non-stop pure entertainment at its finest.
Best Sk8 Skates memory?
The night I got on the team and my first out of town demo. For the demo we drove about 9 hours north with the demo set up to Flin Flon, only running out of gas once on the way. Flin Flon didn’t have a park or very many spots, but it didn’t matter. We had a good crew so it was good times all around.
