Talkin' With The Team #8 - Evan Sinclair
How old are you and who are you sponsored by?
I am 25 and I am sponsored by Sk8 Skates.
How long have you been on Sk8 Skates?
I think I joined the team when I was 20, so about 5 years or something now.
How did you get on the Sk8 Skates team?
I had been skating with team guys for a bunch of years already filming parts for Wreck crew videos, as well as doing demos and going on small trips. But I would guess mostly from being a part of local videos and just generally having a presence in the scene. One day I was out skating with Cain and he just showed me my welcome video on the SBC site. I was hyped.
What made you want to ride for Sk8 Skates?
For sure just all my favourite local skaters being a part of it. Then I was invited to come on a trip to Chicago and that made it seem possible. I didn’t actually get on until shortly after all the Green Apple stuff had gone down. After some guys left, and some came back it just felt like a tighter crew than ever. No bullshit – just dudes who were super down with skating.
What’s the gnarliest trick to go down in Winnipeg?
Nick’s fakie flip on city hall, Colin’s wallride down art gallery or Sascha’s kickflip into law courts.
Who would you want to put on the team next?
I think Mish Baerg is super good, but it would be rad to see him film more at spots.
Favorite Winnipeg skateboarder?
Wreck crew!... also Little Josh.
Best Sk8 Skates memory?
Definitely when we won Connect the Dots and Colin announced he was taking over the shop in the same month. We celebrated with the whole team at Geurts' cabin and it ruled.
